Iranian-American filmmaker Desiree Akhavan is the co-creator of the award-winning web series The Slope, which was praised as one of the “Best Webseries of 2012” by both Indiewire and The Guardian. Her short film, Nose Job, played at festivals around the country including Rotterdam International Film Festival. She has been featured as one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Film as well as Out Magazine’s 100 most Compelling People of the Year. Akhavan has a BA from Smith College and an MFA in directing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She is currently in post-production for her first feature film, Appropriate Behavior.
